Vandals remove evergreen tree in Grand Rapids’ Richmond Park, sparking city investigation

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Parks and Recreation Department is looking into a report of vandalism at Richmond Park involving the removal of an evergreen tree.

A 13 ON YOUR SIDE photojournalist found the remnants of a tree in the snow alongside a makeshift memorial sitting on the stump near Richmond Pond late Friday morning.

The box said, “Two people did this yesterday and drove off…with their X-mas tree on top. Police were called. Sad!”…
