L.A. deputies in standoff with alleged armed suspect in Antelope Valley

An hours-long standoff with an alleged pursuit suspect wanted for assault in the Antelope Valley Thursday night ended in the person’s arrest, authorities confirmed to KTLA.

It’s unclear exactly what time deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department began engaging with the suspect, but preliminary, though unconfirmed information, suggested the suspect was fleeing deputies when they crashed into a fire hydrant and then refused to exit the vehicle as the sheared hydrant spewed water into the streets and yards.

Aerial footage captured from over the scene showed a white pickup truck, which appeared to be the suspect’s vehicle, crashed into the hydrant and into several vehicles in the driveway of a nearby home, one of which cratered in the garage door.

Authorities said on X that residents in nearby homes were evacuated and that people should avoid the area while the situation remained active…
