A large fire tore through the upper floors of a six-story residential building in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood early Friday, forcing dozens of residents from their homes but causing no injuries, city fire officials said.
Firefighters were dispatched shortly after 3 a.m. to 50 Golden Gate Ave., where flames on the sixth floor had spread to the attic and roof. Crews mounted what officials described as an aggressive attack that kept the fire from reaching lower floors and nearby structures. Several residents and two cats were rescued during the response, fire officials said.
