Though a deal for a new LSU arena has yet to be announced, the East Baton Rouge Metro Council approved the levy of two new 1% taxes near the site, if it indeed gets built.
At a meeting Wednesday evening, council members voted to approve a 1% sales and use tax and a 1% hotel occupancy tax — both inside an already existing LSU economic development taxing district.
