Advocates for commercial-truck ban at BOTA respond to Mexican industry group

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — Advocates for the planned commercial-truck ban at the Bridge of the Americas (BOTA) port of entry questioned a Mexican industry group’s formal complaint that the ban could lead to negative environmental impacts for other Juarez and El Paso residents.

According to Border Report, the National Association of Mexican Importers and Exporters (ANIERM) filed an objection under U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA) rules with the Commission for Environmental Cooperation last April.

The CEC — created under the USMCA trade agreement to monitor compliance with environmental laws — is now reviewing the complaint.
