New details emerge in influencer’s death near San Antonio

The Bexar County Medical Examiner’s Office has officially ruled the death of food influencer Michael Duarte as a homicide.

Duarte, known online as “FoodWithBearHands,” was shot and killed by a Medina County sheriff’s deputy on November 8, 2025, following a 911 call for help at 1531 Houston St. in Castroville at 11:28 a.m. The caller allegedly reported that the content creator was “behaving erratically,” and waving a knife around at bystanders.

Duarte reportedly made several threats in the altercation, allegedly saying that he was going to “kill everyone,” before approaching the deputy in a threatening manner, yelling, “I’m going to kill you,” according to a release shared with MySA by the Medina County Sheriff’s Office…
