HDOT uses viral ‘6-7’ meme, Pidgin and other means to spread traffic safety awareness

HONOLULU (KHON2) — The islands have seen their fair share of traffic disasters this year, with more than 120 individuals losing their lives on the road in 2025.

To combat this, officials at the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation utilize their DOT electronic signs seen across roads and freeways to display messaging that can range from fun to serious.
