After 61 years, Hood’s Florist prepares to close as its 89-year-old founder retires

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — A longtime Charleston area small business is preparing to close its doors at the end of the month.

Hood’s Florist, a staple for families across the Lowcountry since 1964, will soon say goodbye as its 89-year-old founder, Joyce Hood, steps into retirement.

Joyce first opened the shop in the Park Circle area more than six decades ago. After several expansions and relocations, Hood’s Florist has spent the last 20 years in its North Charleston home.
