Plan to revitalize old Richmond Town Square Mall site clears a big hurdle

RICHMOND HEIGHTS, Ohio (WJW) – The ambitious plan to completely transform the site of the former Richmond Town Square Mall in Richmond Heights into a modern lifestyle center cleared a major hurdle on Thursday.

The Cleveland-Cuyahoga County Port Authority Board of Directors approved $55 million in bonds to fund construction of apartment buildings and additional retail space at the new Belle Oaks Marketplace.

So far, the $300 million Belle Oaks development consists of a climate-controlled storage facility, a Meijer supermarket, a tire store and a car wash. The approval of the bonds gives the green light to what the city of Richmond Heights calls the vertical phase of the project.
