Dog rescued and 1 person injured after house fire on city’s northwest side Thursday night

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — The Rochester Fire Department says a dog was rescued and one person had minor injuries from a house fire on Avery Street in Rochester Thursday evening.

The Rochester Fire Department responded to the house at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. When crews got there, they say there was heavy smoke coming from the house, with the fire on the first floor extending up the stairwell.

Crews were able to put out the flames in about ten minutes. According to RFD, one person was home at the time of the fire, but all people were able to get out by the time crews got there…
