SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) — An Effingham County Sheriff’s Office deputy was struck by a vehicle on Friday night off Highway 80 in the Eden area and was rushed to Memorial Hospital in Savannah, officials confirmed to WSAV.
The injured deputy was Corporal Daniel Handshumaker. He reportedly suffered multiple broken bones and a head injury. Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie told WSAV the original prognosis was encouraging and Handshumaker is expected to make a full recovery.
