Metro Councilman chips away at claims against him in legal battle with former neighbors

Another major shift came this week in the ongoing legal dispute involving Baton Rouge Metro Council member Cleve Dunn, his gazebo and his former neighbors.

Dunn had a “cabana-like” enclosure built near his backyard pool more than 5 years ago. He also widened his driveway and erected a fence behind his home. The renovations caused a rift with Donna and Eugene Joseph Michelli, his next-door neighbors at the time, one that’s played out in the 19th Judicial District Court since the Michellis filed a lawsuit against Dunn and his wife in December 2021.

On Wednesday, a Baton Rouge judge stripped away the possibility of another demolition order. The Michellis have contended in their lawsuit that Dunn’s fence was built on their side of the property line. They also claimed the pool house came within inches of their home and caused runoff to spill onto their property during rainstorms…
