LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — KARK 4 News and sister station FOX 16 News hosted this year’s Food for the Holidays telethon, which brought in $105,465. An estimated 527,120 meals will be provided to Arkansans in need thanks to the total.
After a difficult Thanksgiving season, food pantries throughout the state are getting ready for Christmas. Due to the recent government shutdown and delayed SNAP benefits, which compelled many families to look for extra help, the Arkansas Food Bank has had an increase in demand, but are thankful for the community’s support.
“It means a lot to us. It really shows people are ready to continue wrapping their hands around each other,” said Kate Jenkins, director of communications for the Arkansas Food Bank.
