Howard murder case; USD playoffs; Freezing rain

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Here’s a look at this morning’s top stories for your KELOLAND On the Go.

A Howard woman who was killed on Dec. 6 was found with a large head wound as well as stab wounds to her head, neck, and body, according to a court document from Miner County. Elias Stubbe, 46, of Howard, has been charged in the woman’s death. Stubbe has been charged with homicide as murder in the first degree and homicide as murder in the second degree in the death of Nichole Malfero, 56.

Knife, handsaw, crowbar found in Howard death

Edward Brinkley stands accused of killing Richard Sowers, a 28-year-old Sioux Falls man discovered in a hallway outside his downtown apartment in March 2024. Sowers died from gunshot wounds. Jurors shared a courtroom Wednesday with the now-40-year-old Brinkley who’s charged with second-degree murder and first-degree manslaughter in the case.
