Farmington man pleads guilty to stalking Salt Lake City mayor over city flag designs

FARMINGTON, Utah (ABC4) — The man accused of stalking and threatening Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall over pride-themed changes to the city’s flags in May has pleaded guilty.

Jason Guy Rogers, 45, has pleaded guilty to one count of stalking, a Class A misdemeanor. He was accused of threatening Salt Lake City Mayor Erin Mendenhall on social media and showing up at the mayor’s office after being contacted by police about his posts.

Earlier this year, the Salt Lake City Council voted unanimously to approve new LGBTQ+ and Juneteenth designs of the city flag on May 6, one day before H.B. 77 “Flag Display Amendments” went into effect.
