EUGENE, Ore. — Lane County’s Public Safety Funding Task Force said the county’s public safety system has been underfunded since the 1980s, and it needs about $35.3 million in additional funding to reach an acceptable service level.
The largest gap is in the Sheriff’s Office, which alone would require about $22 million.
