Two cars hit speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour on Interstate 84 on Thursday night, leading to an arrest after one of the drivers eventually crashed in Northeast Portland’s Lloyd District, the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office said.
Steven Paul Roll, 49, was arrested on charges that include reckless driving, attempting to elude, reckless endangerment, driving under the influence of intoxicants and possession of methamphetamine.
Transit Police Unit officers spotted the two cars going west on I-84 at about 11 p.m., according to the sheriff’s office, which leads the multi-agency transit unit. They eventually pulled over one of the cars near Northeast 13th Avenue and Holladay Street, but the driver – later identified as Roll – drove off after being asked to step out of the car…
