Cannabis company Firelands Scientific isn’t having an easy go with its pivot to move its Akron dispensary plans from Highland Square to the Merriman Valley. Neighbors turned out to an Akron Planning Commission meeting Dec. 12 to voice their objections before the commission voted 3-2 to recommend approval to City Council.
Out of the commissioners, Stephanie York, Michael Freeman and Ronald Owen voted to recommend approval for the new plan at 1140 W. Portage Trail. Renee Greene and Gary Wyatt voted against the recommendation. Bronlynn Thurman was absent.
Immediately following the vote, the commission heard a separate proposal from another marijuana company, Klutch Cannabis, to create a dispensary at 1960 W. Market St. in Wallhaven. The commissioners voted 5-0 to recommend approval to Council…
