Voorheesville man accused of raping 15-year-old girl

VOORHEESVILLE, N.Y. (NEWS10) — A Voorheesville man was arrested on Friday on rape and drug-related charges, according to the Albany County Sheriff’s Office. Robert Schleig, 24, faces multiple felonies.

Just before 10:30 p.m. on Friday, Albany County Sheriff’s Deputies received a report of a runaway 15-year-old girl. During an initial investigation, officials learned that the teenager may have been at Schleig’s apartment in Voorheesville.

Upon arrival to the apartment, deputies located and made contact with the 15-year-old. Further investigation also allegedly found that Schleig had engaged in sexual intercourse with the minor and was in possession of psilocybin mushrooms.

Schleig was subsequently charged with third-degree rape, fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and endangering the welfare of a child, authorities said. He was taken to the Albany County Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in the Town of New Scotland Criminal Court on Saturday…
