CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A local organization is giving back to veterans in the Charlotte area.
The Independence Fund handed out meal kits for veterans and their families Thursday at the south Charlotte VA health clinic.

They were given a holiday ham or turkey, as well as other groceries and household essentials. Lunch was also served.
