CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte City Council has approved a $3.4 million, one-year marketing and communications contract aimed at improving public perception of the Charlotte Area Transit System, at a time when concerns about safety on the light rail are growing.
Charlotte leaders on Monday approved several items on the council’s consent agenda, including a $3 million-plus contract with Sherry Matthews Group, an out-of-state firm with transportation and state government marketing experience in Texas, Washington, D.C., and New York.
According to the city council meeting agenda, the firm “best meets CATS’s needs in terms of qualifications, experience, cost and responsiveness to Request for Proposals (RFP) requirements.”…
