Officials are concerned about palm trees that are making a mess at some postal stations in The Villages.
Community Development District 3 Supervisor Gail Lazenby, at Friday’s board meeting at Savannah Center, pointed out the problem at his own postal station in the Village of Belle Aire.
While residents picking up their mail are greeted by the beautiful palm trees of the front end of the postal, they are also tiptoeing through pods of messy seeds dropped by the trees.
“You can’t avoid those pods. The mess is overwhelming. If you get them on your shoe, you’re going to get them in your house. It’s like stomping on grapes,” Lazenby said.
He commended District Property Management for a recent cleanup at the Belle Aire Postal Station. However, Lazenby lamented that the messy seeds, which can also attract pests, will soon be back…
