Roanoke police launch high-tech crime-fighting center

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) Roanoke Police officially welcomed the Roanoke Operations and Crime Control Center (ROC) on Friday, December 12.

Inside, crime analysts have access to some of the most advanced technology to pinpoint the location of a potential crime, including license plate readers, live security camera feeds, police body cams and drones and force metric software that will help officers with real-time decision making from internal data within seconds.

“This is an exciting day,” senior crime analyst Andrew Reece said. “Gone are the days of using endless spreadsheets and pen and paper to make different calculations on where crimes are occurring, because now we’re having that at our fingertips through the magic of new technology.”…
