AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The Amarillo City Council on Tuesday reviewed a development plan aimed at shaping the future of John Stiff Memorial Park and creating a new funding source for park improvements.
The proposal focuses on a roughly 30-acre area of the park near 45th Avenue that is currently used mainly for overflow parking during large events. Officials said the area already has utilities in place, making it suitable for future developments.
Parks and Recreation Director Michael Kashuba told the council the plan is intended to protect the park’s long-term use while finding ways to pay for upgrades without relying solely on city funds.
