Feds Say Iowa Man Secretly Targeted Kids at School Meets and Public Festival

DES MOINES, Iowa — A Des Moines man is facing serious federal charges after a grand jury returned a 13-count indictment alleging sexual exploitation and attempted exploitation of children at multiple public events across Central Iowa. Prosecutors say the offenses occurred at youth sporting events and a community festival during the fall of 2025.

According to the federal indictment, Tyler Boyd Pavlick, 32, is accused of producing and attempting to produce sexually explicit visual depictions of minor victims at two cross-country meets for middle school and high school athletes held in Marshall County and Clarke County in September 2025.

The indictment further alleges Pavlick committed similar offenses at an arts and crafts festival in Polk County in October 2025. Federal prosecutors also allege Pavlick possessed a computer containing child sexual abuse material
