Bears promote Nick Petrino to Interim Head Coach ahead of Xbox Bowl

SPRINGFIELD–With Ryan Beard leaving Missouri State for greener pastures at Coastal Carolina, the Bears have promoted his brother-in-law, and the team’s Offensive Coordinator, Nick Petrino to the role of Interim Head Coach ahead of the team’s upcoming game in the Xbox Bowl.

Petrino has been on the staff as the OC since he first arrived, with his father, former Bears Head Coach, Bobby Petrino, in 2020. This will mark Nick Petrino’s head coaching debut, when MO State faces Arkansas State on December 18 in Frisco, Texas.

Petrino’s offesive genius has helped propel the Bears to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since the 1989-90 seasons. He’s been instrumental in the development of starting quarterback Jacob Clark leading the team to victories and setting several program records…
