Flags Ordered To Fly At Half-Staff In Honor Of Late Wellington Lawmaker

Flags across parts of south-central Kansas will be flown at half-staff to honor the life and service of Billie Ray “Bill” McCreary, a respected Wellington lawmaker and former member of the Kansas House of Representatives.

The order reflects the state’s long-standing tradition of lowering flags to pay tribute to public servants who made lasting contributions to their communities.

Official Half-Staff Order Details

Kansas Governor Laura Kelly has directed that flags be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, December 13, 2025, in Harper County and Sumner County. The order applies from sunrise to sunset and is intended to coincide with the day McCreary is laid to rest.
