On December 10, 2025, the 19th Judicial Critical Incident Response Team (CIRT) began investigating an officer-involved shooting in Greeley, Colorado. The incident happened at about 3:45 p.m. in the 2800 block of 16th Avenue. Greeley Police responded to a report of a burglary in progress.
When officers arrived, they said Manuel Cazares, 34, pointed a weapon at an officer. The officer fired but did not hit Cazares. Cazares went back inside the residence.
Officers ordered Cazares to come out. He started to comply but then stopped. Officers used a less-lethal device to subdue him and took him into custody. Cazares was taken to Weld County Jail. He was arrested on charges of felony menacing and violating a protection order. More charges may be filed. He is presumed innocent until proven guilty…
