Mountain Brook man dies in train derailment

CALERA, Ala. (WIAT) — A train derailment in Calera resulted in the death of a Mountain Brook man Saturday morning.

In a Facebook post, Calera police said the derailment happened at the County Road 22 crossing near Sysco Foods, and is also blocking the crossing at County Road 84.

Chase on I-20 ends after standoff in Cleburne County

The Shelby County Coroner’s Office confirmed 52-year-old Charles Harrison, of Mountain Brook, was killed in the derailment. The NTSB is currently investigation the circumstances of the crash.

Police did not provide an estimate on when the roads will be cleared…
