BAKERSFIELD, Calif.(KBAK/KBFX) — As another weekend comes to Kern County, our weather is experiencing some changes out there! For one thing, the South Valley saw a breakthrough with the Tule fog and clouds clearing for a few areas on Thursday and on Friday, even more. What will Saturday have in store? Well, the persistent ridge of high pressure will be moving off and weakening slightly as a little atmospheric ripple moves through the area. Just enough of a temperature change and wind difference could continue to increase the possibilities of a weaker Valley inversion and more chances of at least some sunshine. After more than a week of 40-degree temperatures, Bakersfield finally made it to 50 Friday!
The contrasts in regional temperatures earlier this week were nothing short of incredible. One day, the temperature in the San Fernando Valley was two times higher (as a number) than Bakersfield’s – when Pierce College in Woodland Hills recorded a high of 90, while Meadows Field touched 45.
Other notable readings included mid-80s close to the SoCal coast, while low 40s were hanging tough across the South Valley.
Above the Valley inversion, those highs should reach the 60s and 70s from the mountains to the Kern River Valley and Antelope, as well as Indian Wells Valley, this weekend. If the sun is allowed to do its thing, Valley highs could get into the 50s and maybe even reach the 60s. We’ll only know when it actually does show. Have a great weekend!…
