Hyco, the nine-year veteran of the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office, passed away Dec. 8 surrounded by his family.
K9 Hyco began his service at the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office in November of 2016. Halfway through his 600-hour training, it was determined that his amiable personality was not conducive to the type of work done by a patrol canine.
Hyco, however, possessed a razor-sharp sense of smell, and officials at the Sheriff’s office say his ability to locate illegal narcotics was exceptional. It was determined that K9 Hyco would be transferred to the newly formed Criminal Interdiction Unit and was assigned to Deputy Jesse Wasserman…
