SCSO: Two off-duty police officers involved in November crash

SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WATE) — The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office released details about a November crash it is investigating involving two off-duty Sevierville police officers.

The sheriff’s office posted about the crash on social media Friday morning, stating that the crash happened November 29 around 2:37 a.m. on Bent Road.

Deputies with the sheriff’s office responded to the crash involving the two off-duty police officers. Sevierville Police identified the driver as SPD Officer Alex Brots, and passenger as SPD Sergeant Alan Williams. SCSO said both were injured.

SCSO said preliminary information in the crash indicated that alcohol may have been a contributing factor to the crash. Because of this, the sheriff’s office conducted the on-scene investigation to ensure all evidence was preserved. Brots was taken to LeConte Medical Center by SCSO personnel, and investigators obtained a search warrant to collect a sample of blood to determine the his blood alcohol content.

The sheriff’s office explained that the investigation is active, as investigators await the toxicology reports. When the legal blood analysis is complete and reviewed, the sheriff’s office said appropriate criminal charges will be “dictated by the evidence and Tennessee Law.”…
