New Community Learning Center Opens Next to Cumberland Town Hall, Expanding Local Education and Job Services

On November 21, 2025, Governor Dan McKee and Cumberland Mayor Jeff Mutter held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the renovated Amaral Building Community Learning Center in Providence, Rhode Island. The event opened the first of 21 planned community learning centers in the state. These centers are part of the governor’s Learn365RI initiative, which aims to expand out-of-school learning opportunities.

The Amaral Building is next to Cumberland Town Hall. It now offers services such as adult education, job development, and health monitoring. The center includes a classroom, public computer stations, a gathering space, and private rooms for tutoring, telehealth, and job interviews.

The project received $3.1 million from the Governor’s Community Learning Center Municipal Grant Program and a $1 million Community Development Block Grant.
