The U.S. Coast Guard has suspended its search for a 79-year-old North Palm Beach woman last seen diving near the Vandenberg wreck off Key West on Dec. 5.
A strong current separated Ellen Ruth Domb from a diving partner at the site 7 miles southeast of the Southernmost Point Buoy, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said. The partner reported losing sight of Domb’s black wet suit and yellow fins about two to three minutes after entering the water.
The sheriff’s office, the U.S. Coast Guard, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Key West Police Department all searched for Domb in the days that followed, with air and surface crews covering 2,780 square miles over 60 hours…
