Erika Kirk’s CBS Town Hall Draws Strong Viewer Reaction
Erika Kirk, widow of the late Charlie Kirk, appeared on a CBS Town Hall event Saturday evening to promote her husband’s posthumous book, “Stop, in the Name of God: Why Honoring the Sabbath Will Transform Your Life.” The broadcast, moderated by CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss, was the first in a new series of town halls and debates, taking place before a live audience in New York City.
Kirk, 37, who has reportedly amassed a significant fortune since her husband’s death, was dressed in an all-black ensemble, featuring a fitted blazer and a silver diamond cross. However, viewers at home quickly took to social media, expressing a range of negative opinions about her prime-time appearance.
Comments flooded platforms, with one user stating, “something about erika kirk is very unsettling,” while another questioned, “why is Erika Kirk being given an hour of prime time network tv? this is a disgrace.”
Further criticism included exclamations like, “WHY THE F–K DO WE NEED A TOWN HALL FROM ERIKA KIRK???” and “What is this CBS News Town Hall with Erika Kirk??
Is this normal?”
During the emotionally charged broadcast, Kirk directly addressed those who celebrated her husband’s death, calling them “sick.” She continued, “He’s a human being.
You think he deserved that? Tell that to my three-year-old daughter.”
Becoming visibly upset, Kirk added, “You want to watch in high-res the video of my husband being murdered, and laugh, and say he deserves it? There’s something very sick in your soul, and I’m praying that God saves you.”
This appearance follows an earlier incident this week where Kirk corrected herself on Fox & Friends during a live television segment. On Tuesday, December 9, while discussing her husband’s final words in his book, Kirk initially stated she could not “forgive” Tyler Robinson, the individual suspected of shooting and killing Charlie Kirk at a Turning Point USA event at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on September 10.
She quickly amended her statement, saying, “I will never forget that – Sorry, I will never forget that, I will forgive it because I know that the Lord is just and sovereign.” Kirk had previously stated her forgiveness for the alleged killer during her husband’s televised memorial.
