“Wreaths Across America” honors veterans

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — Western New Yorkers gathered in Cheektowaga on Saturday to pay their respects to fallen heroes by taking part in the “Wreaths Across America” initiative.

It’s a nationwide event where Christmas wreaths are placed on the gravesites at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Leaders with Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries said events like these start with the men and women who put it all on the line for the country.

“None of this exists without our military, both active and, unfortunately, passed,” said Tom Christy, director of the Buffalo Catholic Cemeteries. “We do multiple events for veterans and veteran organizations all year long, and so this is just another honor to be able to do that.”
