Baton Rouge crime rates decline for two consecutive years, chief says

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — Baton Rouge has seen a decline in overall crime rates for two consecutive years, according to Police Chief TJ Morse.

Chief Morse reported that crime in Baton Rouge decreased in 2024 compared to 2023, and the trend continued into 2025. However, the number of homicides remained relatively stable, with 81 in 2023, 83 in 2024, and 78 so far in 2025.
