‘I’ve lost everything’: House fire breaks out in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood

CHICAGO (WGN) — With nothing but her house slippers, Yvonne Jones grabbed her granddaughter and great-nephew and fled her home that had caught on fire in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood on Friday evening.

“(I) just grabbed the children and ran out of the house. Smoke was coming in fast,” she said. “I’ve been sick all week. I was in my washroom when I heard a loud pop, bang.”

She says she thought the kids had dropped something, but when she asked about the noise, they had no idea. That’s when she saw her bedroom in the back of the house was filled with smoke…
