Man who shot and killed ex-girlfriend in Greeley sentenced after pleading guilty

GREELEY, Colo. — A man charged with killing his ex-girlfriend in Greeley last year pleaded guilty and was sentenced to decades in prison Friday.

Gabriel Esparza, 24, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder Friday and was sentenced to 40 years in the Department of Corrections, according to court records. Charges of first-degree murder and possession of a weapon by a previous offender were dropped.
