The Boston Globe’s editor is stepping down after just under three years at the paper’s top post.
Nancy Barnes became the first woman to lead the newspaper when she joined the Globe in 2023.
“It’s time for me to take a break from the daily firestorm of news, consider new challenges and tend to some personal issues,” Barnes told the Globe. “This is a special newsroom, full of dedicated journalists with big hearts, who are driven to deliver great journalism day in and day out — as you have these last three years.
