ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A former Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office employee has died after being hit by a car at the Cumming Christmas parade.
Robert Muth was helping direct traffic as a volunteer when he was struck at the intersection of Castleberry Road and Buford Dam Road near 7:20 p.m. on Saturday, Cumming police said. He was rushed to Wellstar North Fulton Medical Center, where he died on Sunday morning, surrounded by his family.
“This tragic loss is a solemn reminder of how fragile life can be, and of the importance of continued care and responsibility on our roadways,” the police department, which is leading the investigation, said. “Our hearts are with the family of Mr. Muth, the medical staff, and the emergency personnel who responded to this incident.”
Muth was a retired sergeant with south Florida’s Boca Raton Police Department, having served in law enforcement for 21 years, according to the sheriff’s office. After retiring, he became a security officer with the sheriff’s office Judicial Operations Division from 2022 to 2024…
