MACHESNEY PARK, Ill. (WTVO) — The Winnebago County Sheriff’s Office partnered with local Target and Meijer stores for their Shop with a Cop. The Fill the Bus donation drive also partnered with those stores. Both of the events aim to provide for children and families in need.
Shop with a cop featured members of the Sheriff’s Office, family and friends who shopped with children selected by the Harlem School District. The program provides holiday gifts and necessities for children in need. “We love it. We see the worst every day. You don’t always see the good things that happen in the community, and this is something else that they can see. So not just the negative but they get to see they can help people,” said Lieutenant Lucas Wagner.
The Fill the Bus donation drive asked residents to donate new toys, food, clothing and paper products. The items collected will go to the students and their families also in the Harlem School District that are in need. This was the drive’s 10th year…
