PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. (CBS12) — It’s a major milestone for the Palm Beach Lakes High School band and a big follow-up to a story first reported back in August.
On Friday, students packed up all 80 of their instruments to ship overseas, marking the final preparations for their upcoming trip to London, where they will perform in the New Year’s Day Parade.
The band successfully raised about $340,000, enough to cover the cost of the trip for every student who wanted to participate. Earlier this fall, families and band leaders said the estimated cost was about $4,000 per student, prompting a major fundraising push to make the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity possible…
