I-65 South reopens after semi hauling horses overturns in Sumner County

SUMNER COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — Motorists were backed up for miles along Interstate 65 from Sumner County into Robertson County Sunday afternoon due to an overturned semi.

According to the Tennessee Department of Transportation, the southbound lanes of I-65 were closed at mile marker 99 — just before Exit 98 — due to the incident, which was reported shortly before 1:45 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.

A TDOT official said the semi that overturned was hauling horses, all of which were contained and loaded onto trailers with some help from the Tennessee Department of Agriculture’s Disaster Animal Response Team.

The Goodlettsville Fire Department said several units were dispatched to the scene of the crash, but motorists were encouraged to seek alternate routes if possible…
