Operation Ganjapreneur indictments for illegal THC sales in South Carolina

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WSPA) – South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson (R) announced Friday that the State Grand Jury has issued indictments in the drug trafficking investigation known as “Ganjapreneur.”

The indictments unsealed Thursday brought 40 narcotics charges against 12 defendants in Richland and Lexington counties. The investigation focused on distributors and wholesalers supplying specific THC products that are openly sold in South Carolina. Despite their packaging, these products test as illegal under state law, are highly intoxicating, and are marketed in ways that appeal to children and teenagers.

“There was a stand needed against stores openly selling illegal THC products, many of which are dangerously potent and clearly marketed to attract children and teens,” Wilson said. “You got these child-friendly items — little Skittles, Oreos, gummy bears. These things are marketed with the specific intention of targeting minors.”…
