House fire in Baton Rouge: Cooking accident causes total loss

BATON ROUGE, La. (Louisiana First) — The Baton Rouge Fire Department (BRFD) responded to a call for a house fire Saturday night.

BRFD arrived at the 1300 block of Bellonia Drive around 9:11 p.m. Upon arrival, firefighters found heavy smoke and fire coming through the roof.

A resident of the home told investigators they accidentally fell asleep while cooking, and when they woke up, the kitchen was fully engulfed in flames.
