Independence family hosts fundraiser to adopt special-needs child from Colombia

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. β€” A local family is working to adopt a special-needs child from Colombia, and this weekend the community wrapped them in support through a holiday market and quarter auction at Sycamore Hills Baptist Church.

For the Bolton family, adoption is both a calling and their story. They have opened their hearts before and felt unimaginable loss. In 2021, the Boltons lost two daughters.

β€œIn 2021, we actually lost two children. Our daughter Molly, who was 14, passed away. And then our daughter Hadley passed away at 54 days from trisomy 13,” said Stephanie Bolton.

But grief did not stop them. It fueled them. Now they are taking a leap of faith, working to adopt a special-needs child from Colombia. The process demands paperwork, patience and thousands of dollars…
