Madison Marriott South opens as warming shelter during power outage

MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) – The Madison Marriott Hotel South on John Nolen Drive has opened as a warming shelter following a power outage in the neighborhood.

According to Madison Police, a car hit a power pole around 10:30 p.m. Saturday near W. Lakeside Street and Gilson Street, knocking out power for nearly 500 customers.

A warming shelter was opened for those without power inside Franklin Elementary School, but has since been moved to the conference rooms at the Madison Marriott Hotel South, located at 706 John Nolen Drive…
