ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – Albuquerque leaders are mourning the deaths of those killed in the gruesome shooting in Sydney, Australia.
“As we see the darkness of terror creep up around the world, we need to increase light. More menorahs, more proud Jews, more Judaism in our town and around the world,” Rabbi Chaim Schmukler of the Chabad of New Mexico. “When things seem dark and gloomy, and we wonder ‘what can we do? How can I make a difference?’ Remember, a little bit of light dispels much darkness.”

“It doesn’t matter when things like this happen across the world, because it hurts all of us, and it’s why we have to stand up against antisemitism every single day,” Albuquerque Mayor Tim Keller said. “It’s why I know we must not become cynical, we must not feel hopeless, and we must not become desensitized or indifferent.”
