A Clackamas County grand jury found that Deputy Lindsay Bailey was justified in using deadly force during an incident with Daniel Dale Zimmerman in Boring, Oregon, last month. The grand jury reached this decision unanimously on December 10, 2025, after reviewing evidence and testimony from the November 9 event.
The incident began when Zimmerman’s father called 911 at about 9:45 p.m. He reported that his 44-year-old son was intoxicated and had set a utility trailer on fire behind their home. The father also told dispatchers that Zimmerman had a history of mental health issues and previous contact with law enforcement. Zimmerman could be heard yelling during the call, and this information was shared with responding officers.
